Why Focus on 21st-Century Heroines?
Women’s History Month is a time to remember the impact women have had throughout history. It’s right in the name! I’ve found, though, that students are often the most excited to learn about people who are living today. They’re relatable, they’re interesting, and they’re honestly just cool!
That’s why my reading comprehension passages focus on biographies of women who are alive and hard at work today. As an added bonus, many of the women featured in my collection started their work when they were children or teenagers themselves. Girls can do amazing things!
